The 5th running of the Dawn til dusk was a rather memorable affair despite the less than ideal conditions. It would have been a great day for duck hunting or cyclocross, but not so good for a endurance race. So, based on the weather conditions every participant will now have a DNS on their list of palmares. Only joking.
To start with Chad and Jenn rolled down from Lyons with plenty of Dale's Pale Ale and provided the BEER!!! Thanks so much!!!

Then, the environment provided the MUD. Kevin watched comfortably from the shelter of the Dale's tent with beer in hand. He is a wise old vet.

Finally, came the BLOOD with wide elbow, teeth gnashing,
MTB barrel racing. In this pic we have
Schafer taking full advantage of the Robin's draft while moving at a blistering pace of 4 mph.

Robin congratulates the winner

Then, in one way or the other, everyone got out of the mud.

I love this picture! If you look closely you will notice these folks have ripped the spoiler off of their little red res rocket. That is why all the onlookers are pointing while the unaware passenger is stoked to take photos of the crowd that is cheering them on..

It was a great weekend and the I
did'nt hear any negative comments concerning the race cancellation. Maybe,
thats because seven years of teaching ninth graders will make you oblivious to negative comments. Finally, thank you Chad, Jenn, Robin, and
Schafar for making the drive. Thanks to everyone involved in organizing and cleaning up the D2D 09! And a special thanks goes out to whoever dug my camera out of the mud, the blood, and the beer. Oops, almost forgot Johnny Cash--- thanks man.
